Happy Valentine’s Day, Benefits of Bone Broth, and What We’ve Been Up To

Today is one of those holidays I always find cliche, but yet when they come around I’m happy to celebrate! Thank God Dan gets this and came through 😉

Also, gotta show the fam some love. Makenna wanted special heart hair for her valentines party, so here we are.


Anyways, in running news, ITS RUNNING SEASON! Always my first race of the year is the Partners in Pain 5K. I love this race because not only does it get me back in the running spirit, but it reminds me that running is HARD! It’s not something that you just always have (at least for me), but it is something you have to constantly work at, like so many other things in life. And once you let it slide, its harder to get back to where you once were with it ❤

But you just keep doing it…

It was a fun out and back run! But I must say, I always love seeing the finish line!

So, I’m back out at EWU and there is a little section with a few food trucks (which PS, I love!)


I found this little gem, if you see this out and about, it’s a must try!


They had a Thai wrap that is AMAZING! I don’t know their secret, but the peanut sauce was insanely good. I approve!



I’m obsessed with coconut ANYTHING! Hence one of the reasons I think I may have been born into the wrong climate, but anywhoo. So I had to try this yummy coconut antioxidant drink, only 10 calories per bottle. If you love suntan lotion like I do, you will love it 😉


Bone Broth

So, one of the latest food trends is bone broth. I am a self confessed pho addict (which is made of a bone broth base), therefore this is my cup of tea, or um, bone broth haha bad joke!


I’m not gonna lie, this is about double the price of regular chicken or beef stock, but the nutrients definitely make it more valuable than the latter.

Here are a few reasons to try bone broth:

  1. Its good for your bones and joints. It naturally contains glucosamine, chondroiten sulfate for joints and calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium to make those bones strong and help prevent osteoarthritis.
  2. Immune support. Mark Sisson, author of The Primal Blueprint, actually calls bone broth a “superfood” thanks to the high concentration of minerals. He says that the bone marrow can help strengthen your immune system. (Something that won’t surprise your grandma who always made you her famous chicken soup when you got sick!) A Harvard study even showed that some people with auto-immune disorders experienced a relief of symptoms when drinking bone broth, with some achieving a complete remission. (Shape.com)
  3. It can heal your gut due to the gelatin, and fights inflammation in the intestinal tract.
  4. Boosts immunity

And it tastes good, I mean, I had to add a little salt to mine since I got the low sodium version, but it was really good!

I made the chicken cauliflowered fried “rice.” This recipe is all over Pinterest, and its amazing, even leftover. I recommend!!


I’m LOVING this YETI coffee to-go cup Dan’s Dad Dave and Brenda got us, It no joke keeps my coffee warm for 4 hours!!
