Family Camping Trip to Indian Creek @ Priest Lake, And Our Hike To The Natural Rock Waterslides

hike5

Disclaimer: THIS POST HAS A TON OF PICTURES/VIDEOS!!!

For Christmas this last year I booked the fam a camping spot at Indian Creek on Priest Lake! I smell the start of a tradition coming on. Everyone had plenty of time to plan for time off, and it was booked so far in advance we had the best spot at the campground! We made our way there on Thursday and in true Lunceford style, didn’t hit the road until about noon! You know how it is though, clean the house, pack, hit the store, gas up etc… oh and this happened…

I bought a boat!! So of course, it took me forever to get that thing loaded up, as I know nothing about owning a boat…. YET! Thank God for Ray and Dan, I probably would have sank the thing without either of them! I just thought I would buy one and then figure it out from there!! YOLO!

Ray drove the Harley

We made it there even though the directions were misleading, my Mom may have gotten a little lost, and to top it all off she had all the kids in the back of the motorhome asking “are we there yet.” haha So, from Priest River, you take Highway 57 north 23 miles, take the Coolin exit, then from there, you take a right on Cavanaugh Bay Road, and go 12 miles to the campsite, seems easy when I say it 😉

The kids loved the beach there:

And so did Oscar ❤ he’s my buddy, he loves me so much he swims and finds me every time so he can shake off RIGHT next to me haha I still love him though

Friday was so rainy, but we made the best of it and stayed in the motorhome! Ray and Ryan play guitar and sing together. It is so adorable how much that little boy loves his Daddy, they look at each other while they sing and it melts my heart.  Ryan took his guitar the last night and performed at the camp talent show!

The pogo stick was a huge hit at the camp!

Once it cleared up, family boat ride time!

The Hike to the Slippery Rocks!

So, Sunday we got everything and everyone together, including the black garbage bags you sit on. To get to the trailhead, we hopped back on East Shore Rd and continued another 12 miles to the entrance at Lion Head. Instead of turning left into the campground, we made a right and drove roughly 4 or 5 miles up rocky dirt road. Where the road ends, the trail begins. Dan was obsessed with spotting a mountain goat, and finally found one(that little white dot).

Once we got to the trail head, it was about a mile and a half hike of beautiful scenery to the slippery rocks, here are some pics:

The first small stream/waterfall we crossed, you definitely want to be wearing your Tevas, or other form of dorky water shoes your friends make fun of you for wearing!

There was a section of stream that was a little deeper that we had to cross, but the water was so cold, which I’m not a fan of, but we had to do it! Most of us stepped on the boulders to get across. It looks shallow in the photo, but it was waist deep!

We Finally Made It!

The rockslides are so beautiful! They are a big natural slab of granite where water trickles, or in some places, flows down. There are pools at the end that stop you, or if you’re like me, it doesn’t stop you and you have to grab the safety rope! I think I got this YouTube thing figured out, so here are some videos!

They are dangerous, freezing, and so much fun!

The bravest little girl I know ❤

20160724_142618.jpg

The only one who got hurt was of course Nolan. Poor guy, he went to take a step up and slipped. His cheek hit the granite and his teeth made a pretty bad gash inside of his cheek. He was hurt, but he was a trooper! And Ray was a trooper too and carried him the whole way back.

Not sure he was happy about it haha

Fourth of July Weekend 2016!

I wanted to post some pics from the weekend to social media, but there are just plain too many! We did so much, saw so many loved ones, but yet still had time to relax and have fun! So I’m just going to post some pics and tell you all about it! And I’m going to apologize in advance because I didn’t get pics with everyone. Fail.

Saturday morning we loaded the car up and threw the paddleboards on top and headed north to Pend Orielle River where my aunt and uncle have a beautiful place. It was so nice to catch up and see everyone!

Took a little boat ride with my Cousin Jake and his wife Beth to Newport

Hope you all had an amazing Independence Day XOXO

So, it’s been a while since I’ve posted…

I’ve been taking a temporary break from running due to a back injury. I have been doing physical therapy and it is working, just a little slower than I had hoped for. So once I feel better, training will be in full force, as I’m signed up for the Spokane to Sandpoint relay, which has been on my list of things to do forever!! I can’t wait!

So, here is what has been keeping me occupied

This is one of my favorite reads, I even had it on my Myspace page (just in case you thought I was super young ;).

Everything Happens for a Reason… Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there…to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but you lock eyes with them, you know that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way. And sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would never realize your potential, strength, will power or heart. Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of luck. Illness, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless. The people you meet, affect your life. The successes and downfalls that you experience can create whom you are, and the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact they are probably the most poignant and important ones. If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart…forgive them because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but also because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to little things. Make every day count. Appreciate everything that you possibly can, for you may never experience it again. Talk to people whom you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you. Create your own life and then go out and live it.

But on a serious note, I have so much gratitude for the people in my life! Without you this life would be nothing. I love you all so much!
