Has anyone run the trail starting at Kendall Yards heading west? Well, let me just tell you, it is beautiful, overlooking the Spokane River!

Last Saturday could not have been more perfect there for a run. And the superhero run was also going on, seeing everyone in costume made the run that much more fun!

Kids are literally the best thing on Earth ❤

On a more serious note, I’m so terribly sad about this young girl from Garry Middle School taking her own life. After losing my Dad to suicide just over two years ago, it holds a spot near and dear to my heart. Hindsight is 20/20, especially with suicide. You always ask yourself what could I have done differently? How did I miss the warning signs? What if I were there at the time they did it? But the truth is, it has nothing to do with you, and everything to do with them. It seems as though once someone gets to that point, they’re already a lost soul. So many things have spiraled them to this point. Sometimes I wonder if they can even be saved once they get here? But maybe they can, maybe they just need someone to reach out to them and invite them to lunch, maybe they just need to hear a compliment, maybe someone needs to tell them they can change and that they don’t have to keep living this life that they hate. I’m not 100% sure what the answer is, but I guarantee kindness is part of it. So hug your loved ones tight, tell them you love them, and teach them how to conquer their own emotions, so that someday, if they should find themselves unhappy, they will have the tools to change their situations!

  1. Thanks for sharing! I love the note and the “spilling shakes in your car” photo .. love your sense of humor Sam!

The loss of that little girl’s life is so tragic. I remember being that age, and it’s hard to even believe that life can get better when you feel so alone and lost. I think their are tortured souls on this earth that are literally dying for some peace. Suicide is never black and white and their are so many facets .. as you know. I agree with you completely — give kindness and love freely.
